The council?s night time noise service has won a national award for its work towards making Sheffield a quieter, healthier and safer place.
The scheme, run by the environmental protection service, was awarded the John Connell special commendation award by the Noise Abatement Society.
The award recognises unsung public sector heroes who have gone beyond the call of duty in their work.
Coun Jack Scott, cabinet member for the environment, said: ?I know that this team is doing a great job in the night, helping to reduce people's suffering at the hands of those causing anti social behaviour.
?It's great news that this work is now recognised again at the national level. It shows that we can all do our bit to ensure our city is amongst the safest in the country.?
The team, which won the main award in 2010, works with South Yorkshire Police to deal with noise complaints as well as tracking down criminals and dealing with antisocial behaviour.
If you have a problem with noise, call 101 from Sunday to Thursday 7pm to 2am, or Friday and Saturday 7pm to 3am. For more information on what the service can offer, visit the link below.
